KnotBooth is an iPad app sold to photographers and event professionals. They install it on their own iPad and run it as a photo booth at events they are hired for. It is made by Red Bank Studio, LLC (New Jersey, USA), who also operate the WeddingPOV gallery service it can upload to.
The plain summary: KnotBooth collects photos, and nothing else. No names, no email addresses, no phone numbers, no location, no device identifiers. There are no accounts in the app, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
Who is responsible for your photos
The studio running the booth decides what is captured at their event, who can see the gallery, and how long they keep it. They are responsible for the event. We make the software and host the gallery on their instructions, for no purpose of our own.
If you were a guest at an event and want a photo removed, the fastest route is to ask the studio who ran the booth — they can do it directly. You can also write to us and we will pass the request on and act on it.
What KnotBooth collects
Photos taken at the booth
When a guest takes a photo strip, the composed image is uploaded to that event's gallery so guests and the couple can view and download it. A copy prints if the studio has a printer connected.
Video messages, on the iPad only
If a guest records a video message for the couple, it is saved on the studio's iPad and never uploaded to us. It is delivered to the couple by the studio.
A copy in the studio's photo library
Unless the studio turns it off in Settings, KnotBooth also saves every photo, strip and video into the photo library of the iPad running the booth, filed under an album named after the event, so the studio keeps their own copy of the night.
That library belongs to the studio, not to us — we never see it. But it is worth knowing what it means: those photos sit alongside the owner's personal pictures, are visible to anyone holding the iPad, and will sync to that studio's iCloud Photos if they have it enabled. Ask the studio how they store and back up their copies.
Nothing else
That is the complete list. The app's privacy manifest declares photos and nothing else. A booth that has not been connected to a gallery runs in Demo Mode: photos are captured, composed and printed on the iPad, and nothing is uploaded to us — though they may still be saved to the studio's own photo library, as above.
Device permissions
- Camera — to take the photo strip and record video messages.
- Microphone — to record audio as part of a video message.
- Photo library— two things, both on the studio's own device. Reading, so they can pick a logo for the printed strip and their mark for the welcome screen. Writing, to save each capture into the event's album. The app never reads a guest's photo library — the only library involved is the one on the iPad running the booth.
Where photos go
Uploaded photos are stored in the event gallery at app.weddingpov.com, a service we operate. Its infrastructure provider is Supabase, acting as our processor.
Galleries are reachable by anyone holding the event's six-character join code or its link. That is deliberate — it is how guests find their photos — but it does mean a gallery link should be treated as semi-public and shared only with people who were there.
How long photos are kept
Photos live in the gallery for as long as it stays open, which depends on the plan: 30 days on the free plan, longer on a paid one. After a gallery closes it stops accepting photos, and its contents are permanently deleted 90 days later.
Video messages are held only on the studio's iPad. We never receive them, and their retention is the studio's to manage.
Your choices
- A guest can take a photo and AirDrop it with nothing uploaded — ask the studio to run the booth in Demo Mode.
- A studio can turn off Save to Photos in Settings, so nothing is written to the iPad's photo library.
- To have a photo removed, contact the studio running the event, or email us at redbankstudios@gmail.com.
Children
KnotBooth is a general-audience kiosk used at private events such as weddings. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
The app ships with no API credentials of any kind. All network calls are made over HTTPS, and every credential lives server-side in a managed secret store.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date above and post the revised version at this same address.
